A long story short: After graduating from Cornell (and a brief stint at Princeton), I moved back to Europe to witness the strange demise of a glorious, albeit sometimes cruel and unforgiving, civilisation. Before joining Sapienza as a full professor, I held research and teaching positions at CWI Amsterdam, Freie and Humboldt Universität in Berlin, BRICS (University of Åhrus), Ca' Foscari University of Venice, and University of Bologna. I have also had the privilege of being an academic guest for prolonged visits at Max Planck Institüt fur Informatik, KTH Stockholm, ETH Zürich, and Université Paris Diderot.
